RAW:TOKYO is more than food, more than design, it is about place. We strive to embody the spirit of the location we are performing. At the core it is about place making and community building. We use food and space to do this but that is just the beginning, the event becomes a transformative experience and the guests bring the transformation.
At RAW:Almond everyone sits at single shared table, rubbing shoulders with friends and strangers alike. If you don’t know the person sitting beside you when you sit down, by the end of the meal you will be old friends. Our goal is to create new and exciting experiences and to help build connections between our guests, both old and new.
In 2013 with only a dream in hand a chef and a designer set to create a temporary tasting room on the frozen river during the coldest months Winnipeg has to offer. Seems crazy? It was, but with dedication and perseverance we pushed through, now five years and counting. The event has grown in size and scope - more elaborate designs, more guest chefs. It has also grown to other locations, Churchill, Manitoba (Polar Bear Capital of the world) and now Tokyo! Stay tuned for more to come, we are always cooking something up!!!
